When my phone drownded

Yesterday, I felt like a swim. Walked straight into the pool with my phone in the pocket. Took me a while to realize it. When I did, I was like, HOLY #*&T#. Grabbed it, removed the battery and put it out of the pool.

I thought, let it dry, nothing much else I can do. So left it there and continued swimming. What an evening it was. Heavy rains in Bangalore, the water in the pool was just perfect. If you looked up underwater, you could see the drops of raining hitting the surface of the water!

Anyway, After the swim, went back home, tried using a hair dryer on the phone, Dried it as much I could and switched it on. The display lit up! And then faded. -_-
I thought there must be some problem with the battery, or the circuits must be blown. More or less lost hope. Then I checked online. Followed some instructions, and voila, it works! Here's what I did.

> Remove battery as soon as possible! Do not try to switch on when wet.
> Remove SIM card and memory card.
> Dry the whole phone and battery with a piece of cloth.
> 'Immerse' your phone in a bowl of rice, yes RICE lol. The rice acts as a desiccant. If you have real desiccant then use that too. Throw in the battery too.
> Leave it that way for about 12-24 hours. Yup, that's long, but its worth it.
> Cross your fingers and switch the phone on. It should work if there's nothing wrong.
> If it doesn't, then remove battery, plug ion charger and try switching on. If it does switch on then you know there's something wrong with the battery.
> Else, you're busted. =P Try a repair shop, they hopefully can still revive it.

Or you could just not drown your phone.
