Club Can't Even Handle Me Right Now.

Hullo!
So today I wrote an exam, without reading a single thing, and am probably maxing it. XD (Thank you, thank you)

Why didn't I read a thing?
  • I slept 2 hours in three days and then slept about 20 on the day after, being yesterday.
  • I was too busy getting my mind blown off with the insane music at parties that started at 2 am and went on till 5.
  • Feeling the changes in myself and feeling the impact I was making happen by doing the seemingly mundane, simplest things. These sessions were so intense and long, that they pushed the parties that late. (Yes. AIESEC != Parties)
  • Talking to people from 3-4 different continents, and learning slowly, sometimes unknowingly, their culture, their way of thought, their dances.
  • I saw 9 shooting stars in 2 days. Yes. 9.
  • Feeling pumped that @Bangalore was doing well but feeling that pull to push ourselves and overachieve.
May LCong 2011. What an epic conference it was. Probably not on par with December last year in terms of sheer emotions, but damn, was it crazy!

We had those retardedly wild moments, like when i was pushed into the pool by one very sly French guy, or our department's war cry! But all these were held together by our common drive to make something happen, to rise above the mediocrity we had settle for all this while. Getting there was a pain as usual, the bus making us wait for about 3 hours on the footpath. Got better after we got there though, and getting there as early as 7ish was still good, relatively speaking. Akash and me had taken guitars, and that proved totally worth it during the wait.

The first evening was relaxed, and efforts were concentrated on scandalizing the new recs. (And how) It was a fun night, and the ice was broken. We had a few interns of which Ricardo was one, he's a fun dude! We won him over to our department, and he was one of us immediately, even with the mad war cry that we had! More interns arrived. Some we knew well, some not so well, but in about an hour, we were all one. That night was skolling night, with India's best showing us how it was done! The newbies were all confused when they found out the party was STARTING at around 1-2. Then we partied till 5 in the morning. Akash wasn't in the best of spirits, which was a little disappointing to see, cuz I was having so much fun.So I walked out for a bit, and looked at the sky. And DAMN were the stars bright or what! Went in and called Shikha out, we were looking up for 40 seconds and boom, we saw a shooting star! Went on to see two more that night, one with Mariana and one alone. Went on to the roof with Akash for a bit, the calm and quiet was in stark contrast to what was happening below.

I couldnt sleep much which is normal for me at conferences. Shikha woke up early too, and we walked around in the quiet of the morning and sat on the swings with the Green Valley Dog (lol!) talking randomly till everyone woke up.

Then we dived right into the sessions, with Vlada from Czech(me out!), and the future head of exchange of Russia showing us how to sell a product more effectively. It was clear why guys like him were so good at what they do. The usual reports of performance were shown, those put some to sleep and put others on fire. The day wore on, and senior members like myself found a lot to relate to and draw on. I'm sure the new recruits learnt a lot too.

Our interns had a session, which was touching and inspiring at the same time. Youni, one of our most favourite interns, and best friend to many, recorded the AIESEC Bangalore song in Hong Kong he composed in December and sent it across. That gesture moved the entire LC. Our chair agreed that it was perhaps the sweetest thing any intern did for any LC he'd ever seen. That moment was the single most unifying one for AIESEC Bangalore that I have ever seen, other than maybe one or two during December Lcong. Katia showed us a video of her work, and we got a real sense of the great things we were contributing to.
Here's the video- don't just watch it and forget it, think about whether you're doing anything like that, if you're not, you should. Now.

Our interns are a very special bunch, and I hope they know how much they mean to us. They are more than just friends, and just 5 minutes of talking to them can change you as a person, and their vast experiences and hearts are something that can inspire anyone. We missed Youni like crazy. But new bonds were formed, and they are here to stay.

That night, we were to have a fashion show. Not many of us were psyched about it. But it built up slowly, and we ended up having quite a lot of fun. From cross dressers to real short and hot, it was brilliant. The EB from last year came just before the start, and the few of us who knew them were absolutely thrilled. They are missed, and it was awesome that they made it. Shikha and me jived our way across the ramp in tribute to Ali Masudi, who for no apparent reason, we look up to. Lol.

Then the second party. People lost it more than the previous night, mainly because there was a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood. As many will know by now, I do not easily lose my head over spirits. I got high on the music as usual though, but there were moments of reflection, which I feel are important to me. Went on to the roof again this time with Anusha, we had quite a lot to talk about, and we saw six more shooting stars!

When the party got over people started going back to the rooms, some jumping into the pool whether consciously or not. I stayed back with the JDs, and we jammed till about six, like we did in December. Those experiences I will treasure for a long time to come. The next morning was a little disappointing. Shikha, Abhijith, Akash and a few others left. This both left me quite alone and I felt they were missing out on a lot, no matter how much they complained about whatever. I was almost about to leave myself, with David Ricardo and Mariana, but changed my mind last minute, and that turned out to be a good decision.

We had commissions, those were both useful and gave us a sense of perspective. Closing plen was cool too, and that kind of summarised the significance of what and why we were doing things in AIESEC. At the end of it we were asked to jump into the pool, which I felt was a nice touch, and helped use the time waiting for that bus.

The bus ride back home was fun, I psyched Deeyum out with some music, and Shreesha too.

All in all, a real fascinating experience, we got to see how exactly things were changing, not only in the world around us but within ourselves. Looking forward to things to come!
